Notice of paid plan feature restrictions due to Twitter API changes

Update date: June 7, 2023

Please refer to this previous notice for details about restrictions to Lite plan (free plan) features.

Changes have been made to some of the restrictions to paid plans initially announced. As a result, additional restrictions to features for users are now in place. Please check the new restrictions. (updated May 31, 2023)

Thank you for using SocialDog.

Due to changes to the Twitter API, restrictions have been applied to some SocialDog paid plan features.

We apologize to all users of the affected features for this sudden change.

As a result of the transition of the Twitter API to a paid service and the very high usage fees involved, we greatly reduced the features of the Lite plan (free plan) on May 16, 2023. However, after a detailed audit of our usage of the Twitter API, we have determined that it will be difficult to lower our usage to within the limits of the Twitter API by limiting the features of the Lite plan alone. We will therefore additionally be applying some restrictions to some features of paid plans.

Using the Enterprise API, which with the transition to the paid Twitter API we will now be able to use, we will provide more advanced and reliable features in the future in order to meet the needs of all our users. The Keyword Monitor feature, which will be heavily restricted with this change, is planned to be rebuilt using the Enterprise API, allowing for features such as realtime post retrieval and notifications, and searching of posts within the last 30 days.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to users of the features affected, and ask for your understanding.

About temporarily unavailable features (updated June 8, 2023)

Keyword monitor

Though due to limits of Twitter API use the Keyword Monitor feature will be temporarily unavailable, we will rebuild and re-release the feature in the near future using the paid Twitter Enterprise API (Full Archive Search).

Q & A

Q. What is the Twitter API?

A. The Twitter API is a product that enables third-party services to use Twitter's data. Its transition to a paid service was announced by Twitter in March, 2023.

Q. What will happen to Keyword Monitors I have already created?

A. Keyword Monitors over the "Keyword Monitors" limit will no longer have Tweets retrieved for them.

Q. If the Keyword Monitor limit is reduced, I won't be able to retrieve Tweets from multiple keywords anymore.

A. By using an "OR" condition in Keyword Monitor's "Search options", you will be able to retrieve Tweets from multiple keywords with a single Keyword Monitor.

For example, if you previously had "cats" and "dogs" registered as two separate Keyword Monitors, you can enter "cats dogs" as an "OR" condition to retrieve Tweets from both keywords.

Please make use of this method when reviewing your Keyword Monitors.

Q. What will happen to RSS Auto Tweets I have already created?

A. RSS Auto Tweets you have already created will continue to function.

However, once the number of RSS Auto Tweet posts exceeds the "RSS Auto Tweet posts per month" limit, no more RSS Auto Tweet posts will be made for that month.
